Brighton & Hove Rugby League (BHRL) was set up on January 1st 2021, off the back of the excitement of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup being hosted in England.
Rugby League in Sussex has had some notable success stories – with former clubs Crawley Jets and Sussex Merlins both achieving success at different times since the early 2000s.

Our Mission is to create high-quality opportunities for people to be involved in the sport of Rugby League, and to grow the sport in Brighton & Hove and the whole of Sussex.
WHO WE ARE
We’re a local volunteer run organisation. We run lots of Rugby League aimed at a community level – whether that’s contact or not. We’re driven by creating Rugby League opportunities for more people locally. We want to find creative ways to grow the sport – we recognise that we’re really far away from the traditional heartlands of the sport and we know that what works in those traditional areas won’t necessarily work for us.
